Historic Preservation

Historic Preservation is a continuing effort aimed at protecting and promoting the historic resources that serve as significant visible reminders of a city's cultural and architectural history.

Historic preservation helps restore the image of an area altered by growth and it can play a crucial role in attracting people into the area in which the resources are located. This helps to strengthen an area's economy.

La Grange, Texas is a small town in Fayette County, Texas with an interesting past: however, not every small town enjoys the history and past of La Grange.  Workers at Monument Hill State Historic Park, Fayette Memorial Public Library and Archives, and Main Street La Grange are fervently committed to preserving Texas History.  They feel that their future depends on the past.  Widespread and intimate understanding of people and events establishes emotional attachments to buildings and places in this small Central Texas town.
