The Main Street Application Committee made over twenty
presentations to local civic clubs, financial institutions, historic
organizations, and county and city government. The radio station and
both newspapers featured many programs and articles about Main Street
including personal interviews. The request by citizens to know about
the Main Street Program was overwhelming. Frequently the Application
Committee Presentation Group of Michael Corker, Cliff Gage, and Betty
Schmidt made as many as three presentations in one day.

The Application Committee also worked as a group to
complete the Main Street Application because it was their goal to have the
application completed for the deadline for 1995 cities. This
information was given to City Manager, Shawn Raborn to be compiled and
completed. The application was completed and filed early, by July 1,
